It happened like this...
A friend of mine, Joel, on coming to University started writing a series of stories called "The Indiana Joel Chronicles". This featured characters loosely based on him and his friends (including me, twice). Currently these stories are not available on the web, so there's no link here to them. Once I've verified mail-list subscription procedures with him though, I'll tell you how to subscribe to the mail-list on which they are distributed. Anyway, Joel merrily wrote these stories, with frightening regularity and not a little dedication, for around about two years, maybe a bit more, until I stuck my oar in.
How did I do this? Well, I wrote what is now known as Bonsai#1, "Dragor and the Causality Violation". My main reason for this was to parody events occuring in real life at the time that its probably best not to examine too closely, or ask too many questions about. Of course, as you will find out when you come to read the stories, having written Bonsai#1 it was impossible not to write Bonsai#2, given that the two are linked. It was Bonsai#3 that marked the beginning of a trip down a long slippery slope that brought me, eventually, though hopefully not finally, to this, a webpage linked to seven stories that I wrote over the space of about 15 months.
The Bonsai Tales are companion stories to The Indiana Joel Chronicles, they are related to them, and they were originally started partly with the intent of extending the scope of the "IndyJoels". This does not mean that a Bonsai reads like an IndyJoel, or vice versa. Just cause you like one, doesn't mean you will like the other. However, I hope you will enjoy both.
One final word of warning. The Bonsai Tales do have a smidgeon of bad language in them. You will discover this on reading the first line of Bonsai#1. If bad language offends you, it's probably not a good idea to read these stories. Don't email me complaining about the language, you have been warned. I welcome any other feedback, good or bad, please email me if you have any. Oh yes, also email me if you have any questions. I can hardly compile a FAQ if no questions are ever asked, can I?
Enjoy...
