The Z'ha'dum Song

I wrote "The Z'ha'dum Song" in the spring of '96 when I first got wind of a few spoilers for the Babylon 5 Season 3 finale (ie, that Anna Sheridan was in it). It is the first Babylon 5 song I wrote and, as if you need telling, is set to the tune of "Teddy Bear's Picnic".
If you go to Z'ha'dum today, be sure of a big surprise,
If you go to Z'ha'dum today, you'd better go in disguise,
'Cause Sheridan can't believe his eyes,
His wife, it seems, is still alive,
Today's the day the Shadows will get their butts kicked.
Song Without End

It's scary the thing's you find knocking aroung in your brain. There I was, cycling home, minding me own business, when all of a sudden this song starts writing itself in me head. The tune it's set to has something to do with a certain Sports Tournament that took place during the Summer of '96.
He's going home,
He's going home, He's going
Valen's going home
(x 4)

Everyone seems to know the score
They've seen it all before
They just know,
They're so sure,
That Bab'lon 5 will go the same way,
Gonna go 'BOOM!' today,
But I know that's no way,
Cos I can foresee...

Valen's on B4,
Zathras' grin still gleaming,
Prophecies of old,
Always kept me dreaming
So many Shadow ships appear
But there's no need to fear
Cos Zathras
Brought the gear
And I foresee they'll go to B4
Like they went there before
Go back to save us all
And go time-jumping

Valen's on B4,
Zathras' grin still gleaming,
Prophecies of old,
Always kept me dreaming

I know that was then
But it's happenin' again

He's going home,
He's going home, He's going
Valen's going home
(repeat until sun explodes)
Perfect Day

In the autumn of 1997 as part of its Children in Need appeal, the BBC commissioned a cover version of Lou Reed's "Perfect Day", featuring many different artists each singing a line of the song. In order to convey the full effect of this parody, I have had to place it on a page of its own. More than any other of these songs, given the effort that has been put into its presentation, it can be considered a monument to "having too much time on your hands".

Perfect Day

Faith

Well. Babylon 5 finished around 18 months ago, and in the time since another show in the SciFi/Fantasy genre has emerged as one having a similar depth of plot and character development. This show is "Buffy, The Vampire Slayer". Of course, a show that's good enough to get caught up in is also a show good enough to provide material for re-writing songs in the name of humour. So, here is my first Buffy song, "Faith" (Words: Me, Music: George Michael, Vocals: Xander Harris). UK viewers without access to the Sky episodes should be warned that a number of spoilers can be inferred from this song.
Well I thought it would be nice
If I could touch her body
Because not everybody
Has got a body like her.

But I shoulda thought twice
Before she dragged me into bed
Can't believe that's what I just said!
Can't believe I had sex!

Oh but I
Need some time, or maybe a potion
Before she stakes my heart or breaks my jaw
And who can I talk to, cause
I can't tell Willow
Cause I know she's gonna hate me
"You mean you slept with her? That whore?"

'Cause I went and had Faith...
Buffy!
I'm scared now that Faith has gone bad
Worried she might cut off my nads
Or do something even worse
Help me!
Who knows what evil game she'll play
Then again it could go my way
Cause maybe she'll tie me down and shag me till I'm blue

But seriously,
I'm really scared now,
She's gonna stake my heart, not break my jaw
Oh no I think that I
Really need that potion
Or at least to do some thinking
Before shagging any more

'Cause I went and had Faith...
